Fire Sprinkler Systems

When undertaking the risk assessment for the premises the responsible person should consider the installation of a suitable sprinkler or other type of water suppression system that could mitigate the effects of fire in the premises.

The Chief Fire Officer's Association has produced a supporting document ‘A guide to Automatic Water Suppression Systems (AWSS) and their practical application’ to promote the use of such systems and dispel some myths i.e. 'in the event of a fire the nearest sprinkler head will activate, tackle the fire and raise the alarm' and not cause all the sprinkler heads to activate causing a deluge as depicted on TV or films.
