Providing Year Two Pupils with Fire and Other Safety Advice

To achieve this all Year Two children in Bedfordshire receive fire safety advice as part of their ‘lifelong learning’ within Key Stage 1 and 2.

Year Two visits are incorporated in the Station Plans for each of our 14 stations across Bedfordshire. We carry out over 90 schools visits within Bedfordshire as part of fire safety education to Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils.  By teaching children these important messages at an early age, we hope they will gain the skills and knowledge to become safer adults.

Visits are made to schools by Firefighters and our Prevention Team who provide information on:

  • Fire safety
  • Smoke alarms
  • Matches and lighters
  • Escape routes
  • Stop Drop and Roll

We encourage the children to take these fire safety messages home with them, teaching their parents and carers about smoke alarms and fire safety and spreading the word through their communities.
