Don’t Drink and Drive Bedford
A poignant display of a smashed car outside Bedford Fire Station in Barker’s Lane is designed to remind people of the dangers of careless driving at Christmas.
Across the county this season firefighters have been working with other 999 services and road safety experts to push home the message: Don’t Drink and Drive.Y
ear
round firefighters work alongside police and ambulance crews to aid people
involved in road traffic accidents - in fact fire crews remove seven times MORE
people from car wrecks than from burning buildings.
"We don’t want to be cutting anyone from cars this Christmas - take care on the roads," said Bedford retained firefighter Deon Shields who organised the Bedford Station display.
*BLFRS vans have been labelled with magnetic Don’t Drive and Drive messages during the month of December as part of a campaign to be launched at the Beds County Council offices on December 18th.
