Firefighters in Fundraising Car Wash
Firefighters
raised a record £3,000 plus in a Car Wash Fundraiser that saw them reaching for
buckets and sponges and people driving away with gleaming cars and safety
messages.
The Car Wash raised much needed funds for the UK’s fire charity, The Fire Fighters Charity (formerly the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund).
Firefighters from Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service took part in the National Car Wash for the fourth year running, joining colleagues from Fire Stations across the UK, making this the largest single fundraising activity for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Andy Peckham, The Fire Firefighters Charity Secretary for Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service, says:
“This year we have beaten all records with more stations than ever taking part and raising more than £3,000 thanks to the incredible commitment of our Firefighters and Staff. The event raised vital funds for a variety of projects including the new Eastern based therapy and convalescence centre to support members of the Fire and Rescue community. The Car Wash also gave us the added opportunity to meet people from our communities and promote our community safety messages for the home and the roads.” The Fire Fighters Charity goes from strength to strength as it looks to further improve the services that it offers and the number of people it helps.
Service the same, just the name has changed....
The Fire Service National Benevolent Fund has now changed its name to The Fire Fighters Charity. The service it provides remains the same but they have re-branded to help people identify with the charity and therefore help with fundraising.
