Don't Drink and Drive - Luton

 

Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service firefighters displayed a crashed car in Luton's St George's Square to warn young men of Christmas drink driving dangers.

Luton Council alongside the police, fire and ambulance services used the car as part of the local, festive anti-drink driving campaign.

The campaign seeks to tackle the number of road traffic casualties of males between 17 and 29 years-old.

During the evening, the council handed out small information cards that had an anti-drink drive message and alternative local transport options.

The information drivers need to know is that even a small amount of alcohol will affect their driving ability. While, the consequences of drinking and driving are:

Videos demonstrating the consequences of drink driving and of bad road user behaviour were also shown on a large screen.

Officers were asking pub and club managers to display posters and to promote the anti-drink drive message.

Officers from Luton road safety education, Bedfordshire Police, Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service, and Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Ambulance & Paramedic Service NHS Trust, took part in the event.
