70 children from the special needs school took part in the one mile walk around Pope’s Meadow and People’s Park and invited parents, local people, community groups and leaders to join in. MP Kelvin Hopkins and candidate Gavin Shuker also gave their support.
Deputy Headteacher Debbie Fookes announced today that the school had raised £773, a huge amount for a small school and more that they have ever raised before with a single event.
“Everyone enjoyed the day and it was fantastic tyo get so much support from the local community. Although many of the children may not remember the walk they will never forget the fun they had with the firefighters!” said Debbie.
