BEDFORDSHIRE AND LUTON FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE
COMBINED FIRE AUTHORITY
STANDARDS COMMITTEE
Bedfordshire and Luton Combined Fire Authority (CFA)
has established a
Standards Committee to promote and maintain the highest ethical standards among
its Members and Independent Members.
The Committee, set up under the provisions of the Local Government Act 2000,
comprises three independent and two elected Members, and is chaired by an
Independent Member.
The CFA has agreed a Code of Conduct, based on the national Model Code, which
sets out the standard of conduct required of its Members. For more
information about the Code of Conduct please contact the Administration Manager,
Fire and Rescue Headquarters, Southfields Road, Kempston, Bedford MK42 7NR
(01234-351081).
The Standards Board for England deals exclusively with cases of alleged
serious breaches of the Code; less serious cases of alleged Member misconduct
can be referred to the local Standards Committee. If a case is proven, a
range of sanctions may apply, including suspension.
A key feature of the scheme is public empowerment. If you feel that a
Member or Independent Member of the CFA has acted in possible breach of the
Code, you can complain, in writing, to the Standards Board for England, 1st
Floor, Cottons Centre, Cottons Lane, London SE1 2QG. To help you in this
process, Standards Board for England advisory booklets are available at Fire and
Rescue Headquarters, Southfields Road, Kempston, Bedford MK42 7NR.
